Movie data: IMDB
A feature-length documentary that explores how The Lord of the Rings has influenced Western popular culture over the past 50 years. Ringers covers Tolkiens influence on pop culture from the publication of the book in the 50s through the 60s hippie counterculture 70s rock & roll & the current Internet craze.
Overall, this is a fun and informative feature that, thankfully, takes a look at the Tolkien phenomenon as a whole instead of concentrating on the release of the films.

The fans in this documentary almost eclipse those that worship Star Wars. Overall, a fine film with a wealth of information spanning the Tolkien years and beyond.

This was a good film if you are expecting to learn mainly about the history of The Lord of The Rings, and not learn very much about the fans.

It's far too respectful - fawning, really -- of the obsessed fan base of Lord of the Rings to be truly entertaining. Hell, Dominic Monaghan, who played one of the hobbits, narrates the thing with an air of something that approaches austerity.

The filmmakers don’t even notice how shallow their movie is. They’re too busy tripping over themselves to praise Tolkien and his work to realize that they’ve made nothing more than a cheap, self-congratulatory effort that, if it were a DVD feature, would get turned off after a few minutes.
