July, 1944. As WWII raged on, a group of conspirators, led by Claus von Stauffenberg, plotted to assassinate Hitler and end his reign of terror. Using rare color footage, painstakingly recreated dramatizations, detailed CG reconstructions and exclusive interviews with leading historians, this thrilling documentary presents the definitive record of what happened before, during and after these pivotal events.
Hitler and his loyal officers aren't demonized any more than reciting the historical record. Valkyrie earns its documentary chops by not taking a side in the history it's telling, opting to just tell the story.

With some very basic, though credible, CGI, several compelling interview segments (including with the plot's sole survivor), and dramatic recreations of events, Valkyrie delves into the chain of power that was set up to try to depose Hitler.

This may be one of those rare instances where a Hollywood version of history - the Tom Cruise film "Valkyrie" - is easier to understand than a documentary.
