Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers is the story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to war. Acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed, and Uncovered) takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who allow them to do so.
Even the most hawkish of conservatives cannot deny the questions being raised here require addressing, and soon. Gut-wrenchingly effective, Iraq for Sale is a well-made and compelling documentary.

U.S. soldiers profiled in the 2006 Iraq War documentary The War Tapes remark repeatedly that no matter how bad things look, you can bet someone somewhere is getting rich off this war. Muckraking filmmaker Robert Greenwald's provocative documentary explores that contention by showing exactly who's profiting from the debacle in Iraq, and how.

Even if it's not perfect, it's pretty essential as an investigation of a little-discussed topic. Most of the people who pick this up are probably going to be on Greenwald's side from the beginning, but there's plenty of food for thought here for others, as well.

A febrile blend of facts, liberal outrage and emotional manipulation (like his colleague Michael Moore, Mr. Greenwald knows the visual power of a grieving mother), “Iraq for Sale” has an us-versus-them sensibility that’s extremely effective.

Like Greenwald's previous films, "Iraq for Sale" is made from a progressive political point of view but spends considerable time talking to regular people who likely voted Republican.

Even if you already know, or think you know, what a massive bonanza the Iraq war has been for private contractors like Halliburton and Blackwater, Robert Greenwald's latest guerrilla-distribution muckraking effort, "Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers," will disturb you profoundly.

Although he has an amateur's weakness for schmaltz, feeling the need to bluntly shoehorn in a grieving widow or family member whenever possible, Greenwald has a master's feel for the killer quote and the telling detail which helps make the film just a little more than the usual recitation of left-wing truisms.
