For the die-hard Phillies fan this is a must have. For the rabid baseball fan, this is one for the collection, and for the Tampa Bay Rays fan, better luck next year. This box set was a wonderfully pleasant surprise from the people at A&E Television Networks.

The drama of the 2008 World Series, of course, came with game five, when the Phillies and the Rays faced the same opponent: Philadelphia rain. It's great fun viewing again the protracted question of what to do with a field that was becoming laughable in its muddy, watery condition. The decision to suspend the contest at the bottom of the sixth inning still conveys its historic impact, i.e., the fact that no World Series game had ever been called off while in session. Add to that the excitement, two days later, of picking up where everything left off, both teams playing those final innings with great energy and competition, and you can't beat this box set.

7.8 DVD Verdict | Ryan Keefer

This edition might appease some Phillies fans purely from a collector's point of view, as it would only be bought for the alternate audio. It's a nice touch, but hardly worth the price of having the games in HD and suffering through Buck and McCarver.
