Coral Reef Adventure follows the typical MacGillivray Freeman model of combining entertaining natural footage with educational materials. The pictures become more interesting due to the involvement of scientists who describe their own reactions to the experience. This film may lack the joyous excitement of Dolphins or the intriguing material of Journey Into Amazing Caves, but it still provides an enjoyable experience.

7.0 Variety | Ronnie Scheib

Contrasting the vivid multicolor diversity of healthy, thriving reefs with the bleached desolation of dying coral ecosystems, "Coral Reef Adventure" makes its case with stunning imagery.

As beautiful as it often is to watch, "Coral Reef Adventure" ultimately comes off as a bit too kid-friendly and faux-inspirational, which is kind of a drag. There's nothing wrong with trying to get the youngsters curious about our ever-threatened environment, but don't do so at the expense of the grown-ups.
