From the dawn of civilization to the 20th century, A Complete History of Britain re-animates familiar tales and illuminates overlooked aspects of Englands past.
Discarding timelines and tiresome lineages, this series provides a liveley look at the personalities and cultures that infuse Britains past and examines the impact of this extraordinary heritage on the modern nation. From India to Ireland, the Norman Invasion to the American Revolution, Schama spotlights the epic themes and towering figures that transformed an island at the edge of the world into the greatest empire on earth.
A sweeping review of the British peoples and their struggles first to form a nation and then an empire. While occasionally disjointed and certainly not cohesive (at times it seems more like Selected Moments from British History), the presentation is excellent and the content is solid.

All in all A History of Britain is a brilliant piece of work with such a vast amount of information that simply talking about the show is a daunting task. The documentary is just about as comprehensive as you can get with regards to Britain and if you're even the slightest bit interested in the subject matter then by all means pick this set up if you haven't already.

"A History of Britain: The Complete Series" is a well above-average television shown which maintains interest over all 15 hour-long episodes. I only expected to watch a few episodes before dashing off a quick review, but I wound up watching the entire series.
